jeden Moment genießen.“ So beschreibt Vibraphonist Franz
Album „The Moon and You“ – dem zweiten Album in

Liner notes by Mike Segal
I write songs. Yes, I play saxophone. But I also pen tunes
with lyrics. I love the sound of rich, lush harmonies, and
I’m fascinated with the seemingly endless possibilities that
English, my mother-tongue, offers. But that can be a
problem. My lyrics tend to be wordy; long, twisting
metaphors that can leave an impression of rhetoric on
steroids. And they’re often wrapped in a gush of chords that
are, perhaps, at times a touch too cloying.
Martina’s songs are the opposite. Which is why I like them
so much. Her melodies, and their harmonic accompaniments,
are easy-flowing and catchy. But not cliché. Her lyrics are
straightforward and succinct, yet not simplistic. With a
creative flair that avoids the pitfalls of repetition and
overstatement, she can tell a story that pulls you directly
in to the heart of the matter.
Martina is a liedermacher. A troubadour in the true sense of
the word. A songwriter’s songwriter.
