Urs Bachthaler versteht es, ohne sich in den Vordergrund zu spielen, seine exzellenten Band-mitglieder mit auf die musikalische Reise zu nehmen. Vom karibischen Rhythmus hin zum französischen Rap, vom spanischen Flamenco zum Hardbop - der Frei-heitsdrang des von Bergen umzingelten Musikers schafft sich wohlüberlegt tonal Platz. Die Bildhaftigkeit seiner Kompositionen springt sofort über. So ließ sich der Berliner Filmregisseur Lutz Neumann von "memellow" zu einem Kurzfilm inspirieren. "Leaving Traces" - der Anspieltipp des Albums aber auch der Name des Kurzfilms. Zu sehen auf VIVA (CH) und auf den Konzerten von "memellow".

In Switzerland Laika records discovered the ensemble “memellow”. The guitarist and composer Urs Bachthaler, admits as Sideman of the David Klein Quartet, created 2001 his own group "memellow" with international known musicians like Alex Hendriksen (sax), Michael Wipf (perc), Christoph Mohler (dr), Walter Jauslin (p, rhodes), Daniel Fricker (B) and Miron Landreau (voice).
With further guests became in coproduction with Swiss radio station dsr2 2005 the album “Headin' South” taken up.
Coined/shaped of the jazz, and Pop and inspires by the journeys of the Composer to Spain and Italy developed “memellow” a grooving mixture of different rhythms and styles of full southern feelings. Urs Bachthaler understands it, without playing itself into the foreground to also take its exzellenten volume members on the musical journey. Of the Caribbean Rhythm to the French RAP, from the Spanish Flamenco to the Hardbop - the liberty urge of mountains encircled musician creates itself in a well-conceived way tonally place. The images of its compositions jumps over immediately. Thus left itself Berlin film director Lutz Neumann of “memellow” to a shortmoveclip inspire. “Leaving traces” - allude-tap the album in addition, the name of the shortmovie.
