NEW TANGO ORQUESTA
Das New Tango Orquesta (NTO) aus der schwedischen Hafenstadt Göteborg ist heute weltweit die einzige Formation, die ausschließlich eigene Tango-Kompositionen im Programm hat. Seit 1995 spielt das Sextett zeitgenössischen, konzertanten Tango mit Klavier, Bandoneon, Geige, elektrischer Gitarre und Kontrabass in freien musikalischen Formen. Vierstimmige Fugen und komplexe Harmonien mischen sich mit Improvisationen, Bass-Grooves und dynamischem Jazz. Ausgezeichnet mit einem schwedischen Kulturpreis (1998) ging das NTO 1999 zum ersten Mal auf Tournee in die Heimatländer des Tangos nach Südamerika und konzertierte dabei im „Centro Astor Piazzolla“ in Buenos Aires, wo die Gruppe von der Familie und den Quintett-Mitgliedern des Tangomeistros Astor Piazzolla begeistert empfangen wurde.Mit ihrer ersten CD-Veröffentlichung „New Tango Orquesta“ 1998 erreichten die Musiker Spitzenplätze in den „Toplists“ des schwedischen Kulturkanals Radio 2, das vierte Album „Bestiario“ (Laika 3510201.2) wurde nominiert für den schwedischen Grammy 2006.
Since the beginning in 1996, New Tango Orquesta have, on four albums and a countless number of international tours up to now, with the composer Per Störby as a leader, explored and developed the concept of "nuevo tango". With their unique mix of baroque music, tango, free improvisation, minimalism and romantique, they have gained territory all over the world with their special sound. Their focused performances are a complete acoustic, dynamic, and musically masterpiec one should never miss.
Swedish New Tango Orquesta have released four albums: "The New Tango Orquesta" 1998, "Part II" 2000, the swedish Grammy nominated "Bestiario" 2005 and the recently released "The Kiev Concert" 2009. Per Störby, who is the musical motor in New Tango Orquesta as composer and artistic leader, have started with the chamber music and developed a unique mix of fugues, counterpoint, improvisation, dynamic, minimalism and barouque music.
