Der Jazzbassist Peter Schwebs hat es mit seinen 30 Jahren schon weit gebracht. Konzerte auf den internationalen Festivals in Montreux, Umbrien, Costa Rica und Peru sowie Auftritte in New York mit Jazzgrößen wie Joe Lovano, Kenny Werner, Chris Potter und Randy Brecker machten ihm Mut für sein erstes eigenes Album. „This is a musician, that needs to be heard“ sagt der bekannte Schlagzeuger Tony Moreno.
Der Bassist und Komponist Peter Schwebs lebt in New York, Berlin und Hannover. Als Sideman und Co-Leader in verschiedenen Bands und Projekten konnte Peter Schwebs zahlreiche nationale und internationale Preise gewinnen, u.a. mehrfach den Niedersächsischen Jazzpreis sowie den Concurso Internacional de Intérpretes de Jazz in Granada, Spanien. 2008 erhielt er von der New York University den Barney Josephson Award for Excellence in Jazz. Dort studierte Peter Schwebs mit einem Stipendium der Fulbright Kommission „Jazz Performance & Composition“ (2006 bis 2008), nachdem er sein Studium an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover abgeschlossen hatte. Höchste Zeit also für ein erstes eigenes CD-Projekt, das Peter Schwebs 2008/2009 in New York aufgenommen und nun bei LAIKA-Records veröffentlicht hat.
Jazz bassist Peter Schwebs has accomplished a lot at a young age. Bassist and composer Peter Schwebs lives in New York, Berlin and Hannover. As a sideman and co-leader in various bands and projects, Peter Schwebs has won a great number of national and international awards. He received the Jazz Prize of the state of Lower Saxony, Germany (Niedersächsischer Jazzpreis) several times, as well as the Concurso Internacional de Intérpretes de Jazz in Granada, Spain just to name a few. Peter Schwebs studied "Jazz Performance & Composition" at the University of Music and Drama in Hannover, Germany (2000-2005) and was awarded a grant from the Fulbright Commission to continue his studies in the graduate program at New York University (2006-2008). From 2007 to 2008, he was an adjunct instructor for Jazz Ensemble at NYU and received the Barney Josephson Award for Excellence in Jazz (2008). It was perfect timing for his first album which Peter Schwebs began writing and recording in 2008/2009 in New York, and is now released under the LAIKA RECORDS label.
