"Seine frappierende Technik, nie Selbstzweck, sondern immer künstlerisch konsequent dosiert, sucht ihresgleichen und erinnert in ihrer Akkuratesse gelegentlich an Martial Solal" schreibt Martin Kunzler im Jazz-Lexikon (rororo 2002).
Christof Sänger machte 1989 als Finalist des "Concours International de Piano Jazz" international auf sich aufmerksam. Solotourneen durch Lateinamerika, USA und Kanada folgten.
Nach seinem deutschen Trio (C. Kaphengst, H. Köbberling), gründete er mit Al Foster, Georg Mraz und Tony Lakatos sein internationales Quartett; Bruno de Filippi und Paquito D`Rivera verpflichteten ihn für Konzert- und Aufnahmeprojekte.
1999 wurde Sänger Mitglied des Quartetts von Ernie Watts, mit dem er 2001 im Duo "Blue Topaz" und 2003 "Pa Chuly" veröffentlichte.
Im April 2004 wurde Christof Sänger zum zweiten Mal nach Japan eingeladen. Nachdem er 2003 Solokonzerte in Japan gegeben hatte, gründete er nun mit zwei in Japan bekannten Jazzern eine weitere Version seines Trio-Konzepts. Das letzte Konzert der Japan-Tournee wurde in Tokio mitgeschnitten.
Christof Sängers Kompositionen und Interpretationen sorgen für ein spannungsvolles, abwechslungreiches Jazz-Programm, in dem die musikalische Raffinesse aller beteiligten Musiker in einer ausgereiften Kommunikation zu Tage tritt.
