Portugiesisches Feeling und brasilianische Lässigkeit strahlt aus diesem Album, die ausdrucksstarke Coolness der Sängerin Teresa Velez entführt in die Leichtigkeit des Seins.
Teresa Velez (voc, Portugal), Markus Britto (guit, Brasilien) und Henry de Sousa (dr, Kanada) gründeten die Band 1998 in Lissabon unter dem Namen „Misto Quento“, entschlossen sich aber 2001 zu einer Umbenennung in „Velez“, um damit die Erinnerung an eine große Künstlerin Portugals lebendig zu erhalten: die Schauspielerin Elvira Velez. Seit 2006 wird das Trio um den belgischen Pianisten Ernesto Leite ergänzt. Die multinationale Besetzung lässt schon erahnen, dass uns nicht der portugiesische Fado erwartet. Die acht Eigenkompositionen und vier Interpretationen kreisen um Bossa Nova, Latin-Jazz, Swing und die „Música popular Brasileira“, die moderne städtische Musik Brasiliens.
„Continuando...“ ist das dritte Album von Velez. Gastmusiker an Flügelhorn und Percussion unterstützen hier die ungeheure Leichtigkeit der Songs und unauffällig entdeckt man die starke Stimme, die Fülle der Arrangements. Zurücklehnen, entspannen und genießen.
Velez exists since 1998. The band started playing covers and their own versions of classical songs of brazilian music, specially bossa nova, jazz clubs, small theatres, etc. In the year 2000 they had the oportunity of recording their first Cd of original songs.
